March of The Shadows Composed by Brian Balmages. For String Orchestra. Published by Fjh Music Company, Inc.. (Catalog # ST6257, UPC: 674398228928)

What a fun, yet dark way to introduce your young string students to Eb and Bb! Painting a picture of dark shadows in any number of imaginative settings, it employs techniques such as dissonance (play it strongly!), broad, brooding quarter notes played with lots of bow in detache strokes and deliberate, dramatic pizzicati. An excellent teaching piece that will also work as a concert selection - especially around Halloween!
