The basis of this folk song is the poetry of A.E. Housman, an English poet writing around the turn of the 20th century. The opening monologue begins as advice given by a wise person warning the young speaker about the heartbreak of lost love. Glenda has added a third verse of original text. This song fits the young male voice very nicely and will be a favorite to sing!
