Alan Lee Silva applies his usual refreshing touch with a tone painting of a little western town waking up. Very Americana, with just a touch of Copland, he uses open string doublestops, a skippy, catchy melody with sixteenth notes, double up-bow staccato and accented accompaniments and just enough special effects such as tremolos and forte-pianos to keep if from becoming a stereotypical western movie soundtrack. This is one of those pieces your students will want to keep playing again and again.
