Scott MacPhereson's edition of Mendelssohns "Im Walde" and "Jaglied" brings these pieces that were, in the composer's words, meant "to be sung in the open air" into the concert hall. Beautifully lyrical, "Im Walde" features a simplicity of means that perfectly highlights the text, while the quick and rhythmic "Jaglied" mimics the sound of galloping horses as it illustrates a hunting scene.
