Andrew Balent has succeeded in making this march accessible to young players. In cut-time, the note values center around whole, half, and quarter notes. There is also the opportunity to address dotted quarter-eighth rhythms melodically. Balent's arrangement has an introduction a la Stars and Stripes Foreveri> and uses bells, timpani (2), crash cymbals, and triangle in addition to snare and bass drums. A great way to reinforce cut-time!
