Craig Courtney's setting of the national anthem begins as a quiet fantasia andgradually gathers dynamics and textures ending in a mighty conclusion. This arrangement is also created to provide various options for the performers. Thefirst half of the anthem is written for SATB choir and the remainder of the anthem is written for SSATBB choir. Alternate indications allow the choir to sing either portion by itself or combined. Mr. Courtney has also written a concert band arrangement that can be performed with or without choir. These options allow the opportunity to perform the anthem in a variety of settings and ensembles.
