Standard Vocal Literature (Bk/Cd)

Standard Vocal Literature is an introduction to art song in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Each volume has a different song list, and includes 30 selections in appropriate keys for each voice type. Beyond art songs, in each collection there are two carefully chosen opera arias, an oratorio aria, and an operetta aria by Gilbert & Sullivan. This is the perfect one-volume collection for teaching college freshmen or sophomores, or advanced high school students, or anyone who has moved beyond educational level literature. Each song includes historical and composer information, as well as a translation for study for songs not in English. On the CD are pianoaccompaniments recorded by Laura Ward, and recorded pronunciation lessons for song and aria texts in French, German, Italian, Latin, and Spanish.
