This suite of three well-loved spirituals features SATB choir, soprano or tenor soloist and optional orchestra. Hayes has pulled out all the stops in this trio of classic spirituals. In That Great Gittin' Up Morning exudes pure energy and sets the tone of excitement right from the start. Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child follows, featuring the soloist and chorus in a soulful, ballad style. Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel? is the highly rhythmic, dynamic finale, also featuring the soloist and choir. Each arrangement works well with just piano and each selection can be performed separately or as a group.
