Spider Dance Composed by Michael Hopkins. For String Orchestra. Published by Belwin Mills Publishing Corp. (Catalog # 35920, UPC: 038081411699)

This energetic and spooky scherzo is a great piece for teaching the key of G m inor to a young orchestra. It features a melody based on a scale in broken thi rds with short fast bow strokes. All the instruments get the melody and the do uble basses get lots of interesting material. Some shifting to 3rd position fo r first violin and bass is included as well as 2nd position for cello. Perfect for developing trills, dynamics, and bow distribution, this piece also includ es several poco rits and fermatas for teaching tempo changes.
