Grieg's Lyric Pieces comprise 66 works published in ten sets between 1867 and 1901. Keith Snell has carefully chosen the 14 selections that students enjoy most. Included are some of the greatest character pieces from Opus 12, 43, 54, 57, 65, 68, and 71: National Song: Elfin Dance; Watchman's Song; Waltz, Grandmother's Minuet/ Sailor's Song; Arietta; Puck; Butterfly; Little Bird; Gade; March of the Dwarfs; Notturno; and Wedding Day at Troldhaugen. Snell's careful editing brings out the descriptive lyrical quality in these valuable teaching pieces.
