Sea Chantey is an original concert rondo in the style of a robust eighteenth century British sailor song. Boisterous melodies are passed between sections in a call-and-response style throughout this brisk and lighthearted piece. Best of all, Sea Chantey is designed as an etude for 6/8 time and features all of the most common rhythms and bowings of that meter in each part. Orchestra teachers will appreciate this piece as an excellent introduction to complex meters while students will enjoy the lively and robust style.
