Sarabande and Gavotte Composed by J S Bach. Arranged by Robert Longfield. For String Orchestra. Published by Tempo Press. (Catalog # 10350098)

A true international extravaganza, these two movements are from German J.S. Bach's French Suites (not to be confused with his English Suites) that were actually written in the Italian style prevalent at the time.  The Sarabande, in a slow 3, uses long legato bows, while the lively Gavotte, in cut time, should be played with a detache style of bowing.  An excellent example of Baroque music precision and grace.
