Product Description

Rough Riders Composed by Percy Hall. For String Orchestra. Published by Ludwig Music Publishing Co. (Catalog # 50250033, UPC: 616955018030)

This Galop is in tribute to the United States Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, 1898, otherwise known as Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders.  In rondo form, it bounces from the key of G to C (with a quote from Home on the Range as a tip of the hat to Roosevelt's cowboy image) with the final "A" section in the key of A, with a chromatic interlude and celebratory Coda.  It's got a catchy main melody with syncopated accompaniment, and calls for staccato bowing and accents as well as some sixteenth note passages.  Typical of Percy Hall, who was in the public school trenches for decades, it's got plenty to teach with and makes a fine program or adjudication piece as well.
