Inspired by the definition, a ritual is a group or set of actions, performed primarily for their symbolic value. The purposes of rituals are greatly varied, and are a feature of nearly all known human societies. This original contemporary musical setting opens with percussion and haunting winds but builds to a powerful, dramatic melodic statement. With fury, the work drives to an emotional conclusion.
