If you have a solid junior high band, need a piece that makes full use of your percussionists, or are looking to push your students to the next level, check out Rapp's Woods Ramblei>. About the woods adjacent to the composer's childhood home, this tuneful march passes the melody through all of the winds. Multiple endings, repeats, and key signatures (concert Bb, Eb, and Ab) are used. Your percussionists will be kept busy utilizing their skills on bells, timpani (3 tuned F, Bb, Eb), snare drum, bass drum, crash cymbals, and sand blocks. A nice alternative to standard marches.
