Lessons is the core of Piano Town. The controlled, steady pacing of the curriculum introduces one element at a time. Each concept is presented in a consistent, reliable format. This clear presentation helps students focus on new skills and information. Lessons Level One (46 pages) may be used by students who have completed the Primer Level, or as a first book for beginners age 11 to 13. It begins with areview of Primer Level concepts, then introduces key signatures and I and V7 chords for C, F and G Major. Playing is all done in 5-finger positions, but includes position changes within pieces. New signs and terms include crescendo and diminuendo, mp and mf, 8va higher and lower, accent, natural sign, and dotted quarter. Damper pedal is introduced at page 38. Students will also learn how to transpose.
