Plenty of percussion and interesting harmonies characterize this celebratory arrangement of Silent Night that is perfect for your first year students. Using the first six notes that students learn, the joyous opening gives way tothe traditional Silent Night melody written in 4/4 time. A statement of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen in the low brass and woodwinds adds further interest punctuated by harmonic quarter note/quarter rest figures in the upper winds. Timpani and chimes provide sonic color as the piece reaches a symphonic style ending.
