Mystery At Blackwater Creek Composed by Martha Mier. For Piano Solo. Published by Alfred Publishing Co Inc. (Catalog # 31958, UPC: 038081345796)

This toccata-like solo is marked presto and literally seems to speed through t he night. In C minor and 4/4 meter, it features ostinatos in the left-hand acc ompaniment and the right-hand melody. In A-B-A form, harmonic fourths used in the B section imitate the mournful sound of the train whistle. The entire piec e begins quietly, builds to forte, then fades quietly at the end.
