Product Description

Moto Continuo Composed by Robert W Smith. For Concert Band. Published by C L Barnhouse Co. (Catalog # 023-3777-00)

** Stanton's Staff Selection - 2008 **
Key:
Bb - Meter: 4/4
Rhythms: half & quarter notes, beamed 8th notes in groups of 2 & 4, sustained tied rhythms
Teaching Concepts: slurs, articulation, dynamics, intonation, note releases, sustaining tied long tones

Translated as continual or perpetual motion, this work centers around the constant eighth note rhythm in the mallets. Quarter note and eighth note figures in the winds provide contrast, and the overlapping of eighth note patterns make this piece sound more complex than it is. Challenge your students to long-tone contests and teach them to hear the eighth note subdivision with this mature-sounding work for beginning band.
