"Molly Malone" is a popular Irish folk song that probably dates back to the late 19th century. The song tells of a beautiful young woman who sold fish on the streets of Dublin City. Unfortunately, the song ends sadly with Molly dying of fever. The tune is in a lilting 3/4 and this version rocks back and forth between C major and D major with dotted quarter/eighth note rhythms and Scottish snaps. It gradually slows and gets quieter as Molly fades away. New Ohio MEA H.S. Class C/M.S. Class A String Orchestra for 2013.
