May's Way

Written to coincide with Shelly Berg's successful Chop-Monster jazz language tutor, the sax duet writing in this blues original pays tribute to legendary big band writer Billy May. Saxes should strive to play scooped notes uniformly; lead alto may exaggerate the scoops a bit more than the other section members. As with the other charts in this series, solo space is allowed for all instruments, and optional parts for flute, horn, tuba and vibes supplement the standard big band set. Sound clip at kendor.com
