Even with limited ranges and rhythms, the symphonic-style writing of this piece will make your young band sound much more advanced.  Teach your students about programmatic music by effectively depicting the grandeur of Niagara Falls with the Maid of the Mist, white water walk, and journey behind the falls.  The extensive use of timpani, tam-tam, suspended cymbal, bells, and chimes will thrill your percussionists and really make this piece effective.  It makes a great history/geography tie-in as well as an optional piece for middle school contest! (3:45)
