From the composer: "The text of 'Jesu dulcis memoria' is attributed to St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153). These are words that are almost a thousand years old! Its sweetness, melodic sound and amazing poetry have inspired me towrite a composition that is completely based on the original Gregorian chant. My 'Jesu dulcis memoria' contains true citations from the ancient manuscript and metamorphoses of the original melody as well. I attempted to combine and fuse ancient and modern sound in an ecstasy of peace, beauty and mysticism." **Performed by de Angelis Vocal Ensemble, Santa Ana, California; Matthew Gray, artistic director
