Product Description

Ides of March Composed by Sean O'Loughlin. For String Orchestra. Published by Carl Fischer, Llc. (Catalog # CAS67, UPC: 798408091477)

Thinking in terms of the climactic moment in Shakespeares's Julius Caeser when Brutus and his followers overthrow the government in power, Sean O'Loughlin combines pulse-pounding excitement and haunting intrigue in this string orchestra offering aimed at small high schools and better middle schools.  Almost minimalist in its economy, a three note motif permeates the entire composition, with increasing complexity and plenty of counterrhythms.  Syncopation, accents, dynamic extremes and contrasting bowing styles offer plenty of teaching opportunities and the movie score-like feel will be a treat for your students and their audience.  On the Ohio Middle School Class B Adjudication List.
