Huapango Del Oso Composed by Gabriel Musella. For Full Orchestra. Published by Rbc Music Company. (Catalog # 40056)

Introduced at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in 2011, this full orchestra Mexican dance introduces the rich folk music tradition of our southern neighbors.  Harp, guiro, maracas and two marimbas contribute to the flavor and the trumpet soloist is encouraged to play with a wide vibrato to stay in the appropriate style.  Never forced or heavy, the object is to keep the music flowing and moving ahead.  It's fairly challenging but well within the limits of a good high school orcehstra and a excellent multi-cultural music lesson.
