This catchy Dutch folk song has many verses and lends itself to variations. It is not difficult to imagine children's voices singing this with enthusiasm. In Holland, the title is translated as "Staat een huis." All parts are to be played at the frog and off the string. Even the half notes should be played with fast, accented strokes. The double stops in the accompanying parts should leave the string and be made to ring. As the rhythms are easy and the music remains in basic fingering positions, it should be possible to play it at a brisk, bright tempo. Perfect for young players! New Ohio MEA M.S. Class B String Orchestra for 2013.
