** Stanton's Staff Selection - 2006 **
Depicting a day in the life of pirates, the piece includes the sections In the Wake of Calm (serence, lyrical, beautiful), Setting Sail (3/4 in one, very rhythmic w/melody in the trumpets, later ornamented by flutes & clarinets), Digging for Gold (a flowing 3/4 in one), Battle on the High Seas (featuring percussion), and The Long Journey Home (a recap ot Setting Sail).  A solid programmatic work for young band or high school groups with limited instrumentation.
