This majestic-sounding traditional march is elevated throughout by the composer s distinctive, well-crafted melodies and unique scoring touches. The unison, percussionless, opening statement immediately grabs the listener s attention, and segues into the catchy first tune by way of a rollicking bass line. Tenor sax, horn, and euphonium are given the soaring trio theme, backed by low-register woodwinds. The woodwind-dominated dogfight leads to the final strain, which combines the trio theme with the opening melody for a delightful, rousing conclusion.
