Get On Board Little Children

With this spirited setting, Larry Shackley continues his series of jazz-flavored spirituals for church and school choirs. You can hear the train wheels turning in the opening accompaniment, then the voices enter one by one,singing: "Gospel train is a-comin', comin'!" The driving, bluesy piano part provides the energy for the joyous refrain. A smooth, serene middle verse leads to a final visit from the gospel train, ending in an exuberant coda.
