Several years ago Rick Kirby happened upon the Garden of the Gods on his way to Colorado Springs. A place of amazing beauty, Kirby encountered it just after a storm upon a clearing of the skies and a gorgious sunset. He has chosen to write this piece with that setting in mind; however, it is set during a time when Native Americans would have been there, not a modern American driving on a family vacation. The piece is characterized by the solos in the flute and clarinet, wonderful, native-style rhythms and melodies, and plenty of highly effective percussion. Don't miss the opportunity to perform this outstanding work!!!
