a grand improvisation on the famous Stanford hymn tune. Composed for the 2011 Region III AGO. Starts with rapid gestures in the hands, outlining the tune with fanfare rhythms. The tune is developed in flowing notes juxtaposed with the fanfare motives. After a short pedal cadenza, the piece ends in the spirit of the opening. Could be used as a voluntary or an introduction to the hymn on a festive occasion.
