Commissioned by the St. Joseph s Collegiate Institute Jazz Ensemble of Kenmore, NY, this spirited Latin original for advancing groups is a real showstopper! The title in Portuguese means a samba school, referring to a clubor dancing school. Throughout the year samba schools hold events, the most important being the annual spectacle known as Carnival. The groove here alternates between samba and partido alto rhythms. As the music plays, you canalmost see the dancers in their elaborate, colorful costumes. The chart has been meticulously crafted to ensure that the rhythm section faithfully captures authentic Brazilian grooves.
