** Stanton's Staff Selection - 2005 **
Teach and reinforce dynamics, accents, staccato, eighth-quarter-eighth syncopation, and introduce your students to call and response playing with this musical depiction of Cahokia, the most advanced prehistoric Indian civilization north of Mexico. There are plenty of quarter and eighth note patterns, diatonic motion with some interval skips, and the use of bells, snare drum, bass drum, tambourine, 2 timpani (G, C), triangle, and suspended cymbal. If your beginning students are ready to take it to the next level, this piece is for them. (2:10)
