In honor of the 100th birthday of Bill Monroe, The Father of Bluegrass, here is a high-energy, true-blue fiddling romp of two of his standards - Scotland, which conjures up the Scottish roots of Appalachian music and Big Mon, the nickname of Mr. Monroe himself, calling for some technical wizardry in your first fiddle section. Necessitating a loose right hand, the syncopated fiddle licks are kept mostly in the upper strings, with a few riffs for the lower players who importantly anchor the bottom.
