This Dan Coates arrangement of the opening theme music composed by Danny Elfman for the 1989 film Batman is appropriate for the intermediate piano student. The piece begins with a slow, mysterious section that states the theme contrapuntally, leading to the fast, driving rhythmic pulse that builds in suspense to the final four bars of fortissimo, accented eighth-notes.
