Balloon Ride Composed by David Bobrowitz. For String Orchestra. Published by Grand Mesa Music Publishers. (Catalog # GMMOR86)

Your second violins will get some action with this one! They will learn about divisi and playing fourth finger to avoid raucous open strings. Everybody gets a lesson in switching between 3/4 and 4/4 time, playing staccato and getting familiar with syncopated ragtime-style rhythms. Basses get to play tremolo, cellos get to find Ab on the D string and first violins have some minimal shifting. Add the optional snare drum/wood block part and all will enjoy the feel of breezily floating over the landscape in a hot air balloon.
