Product Description

Allegro Barbaro Composed by Bela Bartok. Arranged by Bob Lipton. For String Orchestra. Published by Fjh Music Company, Inc.. (Catalog # ST6311, UPC: 674398231539)

A superb arrangement that captures Bartok's angular writing to a "T" with its driving rhythms, pounding ostinatos and Eastern European influences.  Typical of Bartok, there is no key signature, so accidentals abound, and students are asked to play with weight and intensity in contrast with the softer sections.  Divisi first violin part requires shifting, while everyone else remains in first postion with plenty of extensions and uncommon hand positions.  Marked at the quarter note=152, you can play it faster if you are able!  Great example of this unique, 20th century master.
