The optional brass quintet may substitute for organ, if desired. When both brass and organ are used, suggestions are offered for the brass to tacet during parts of the piece. The setting may be played in its entirety, or sections may be used separately in various ways. The fanfare introduction and first variation may accompany congregational singing. The second variation modulates and is written in 6/8 time, including the use of handchimes on the melody. The rhythm and texture build on the third variation. A return to the original key and style features the organ trumpet on melody with handbells malleting the accompaniment. The fanfare returns to close the arrangement. Additional suggestions for use are offered. The piece is a festive, challenging and versatile addition to the Christmas celebration.
Jason Krug provides us with the dramatic and lyrical Compassion, for three to seven octaves of handbells with optional B-flat 1 bell, and optional two octaves of handchimes. A flowing eighth note accompaniment offsets the plaintive melody, which is set first in chimes and then in bells. As the piecebuilds to a climax, the meter changes from duple to triple, before changing back for the quiet conclusion. This majestic opus is ideal for a Lenten service, or for general concert or worship use throughout the year.

Designed as a large festival piece, the piece calls for SATB choir, handbells (3-5 octaves), and organ, with optional piano, handchimes (3-5 octaves), and timpani. However, the piece can be done in many ways, including with handbellsalone.

Mark Twain's beloved story about two look-alike lads in merry old England is the setting for this easy-to-stage, unison chorus (opt. 2nd and 3rd parts) operetta. Requires minimum cast of 13 including four principle singers, eight speaking parts and a non-speaking part.
